The Long Walk (2025)

Screening @ MOTELX – Lisbon International Horror Film Festival

Talking about the beginning of this film, I felt it moved too quickly in building and establishing the context, the overall picture. That sense of skipping or fast forwarding robbed the film of a more solid ground to stand on. As steady as the characters walked the long walk, the film itself rushed through its own first steps, failing in that aspect.
Now, regarding the overall film and its development, one strong point is the squad on this long walk. Their chemistry was incredible, and that alone may be why a film like this, which could easily have turned monotonous, found its strength in the cast. The actors were phenomenal, and I sincerely hope to see more from them soon.
I couldn’t finish this review without also mentioning the screenplay. It’s not easy to adapt a Stephen King story, it’s not a task for just anyone, at least not if you want the film to turn out as good as this one, or even simply decent. So credit goes to the screenwriters who managed to adapt this story so well.
